NOTE: All parts of the plant are poisonous to humans when eaten. Young leaves of the pokeweed plant were commonly eaten during the Great Depression but require very specific cooking practices to be safe.
Pokeweed also grows vigorously and may not be ideal for small landscapes. However, its ability to grow in disturbed areas makes it great for seed bombing or for planting in areas that have trouble growing plants.
Compared to foreign plants, native plants:
Require less maintenance
Use less water
Are more beneficial to native wildlife
Sequester more atmospheric carbon (that means they help fight climate change!)
Native range of Phytolacca americana
All of our seeds are sustainably harvested from plants that have never been treated with pesticides or other harmful synthetic chemicals!
The Pokeweed in the photos are the actual plants who made these seeds
